Sverdlovsk residents have established supplies of flax to Europe under sanctions

One and a half thousand tons of flax will be sent to Poland and the Czech Republic from the Sverdlovsk region. The Vostok company from the Baikalovsky district has established cooperation with European companies. The company is also looking for customers in China, Elena Dorozhkina, head of foreign economic activity at Vostok LLC, told URA.RU.

“Last year we collected about a thousand tons of flax, this year 2.5 thousand tons. The volume increased due to an increase in sown areas, and the year was also very productive. While we are exporting to the Czech Republic and Poland, we are planning to expand to China. Now we are looking for a way out for customers,” Dorozhkina shared.

Vostok began cooperating with European customers even before the introduction of economic sanctions against Russia by the EU countries. Their agronomists even came to the enterprise site in the Baikalovsky district of the Sverdlovsk region. “Initially, our products did not meet their requirements when we first started negotiating. We had to slightly change the production technology and storage conditions. We also go to meet them,” Dorozhkina shared.

Earlier, URA.RU reported that China, Turkey, India, Iran and Pakistan made up the top 5 countries with which the Sverdlovsk region established new supply chains in 2022 after the start of sanctions pressure. Previously, the top countries were Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the USA.
